NRCPR
The American Heart Association's (AHA) National Registry
of CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (NRCPR) database is a national repository for
data concerning in-hospital resuscitation events. The database is the largest
of its kind and the only one that provides a baseline for comparison of these
events on a national basis.
The AHA selected Digital Innovation (DI) as an authorized
sales distributor of the NRCPR software. DI also provides NRCPRs software
development, project management, data management services, customer and
technical support to NRCPR participants for the AHA.
As of April 21, 2009, there were 160,241 cardiomulmonary
resuscitation events in the NRCPR registry. Since the November 2004
introduction of Acute Respiratory Compromise (ARC) events, the NRCPR has
received data from 15,842 ARC events. Since the introduction of MET events, the
NRCPR has received data from 63,344 MET events.
Quarterly comparison reports are provided to participants,
as well as the Annual NRCPR Comparison Report which is compiled each May.
NRCPR has a lot to offer. Here are just a few of the
benefits of participation:
- Identify opportunities to improve resuscitation
outcomes
- Improve staffing, training, and equipment
allocation
- Comply with JCAHO standards for monitoring in-hospital
resuscitations
- Identify opportunities for improvement in practice and
risk management
- Save time and money by not having to develop and
maintain your own data collection and reporting system
