Report Writing and Querying
The true test of a trauma registry system lies in its
ability to "get information out" and Collector has the proven track record that
ensures it can deliver on this most essential requirement. Other packages
quickly break down once users move beyond their basic palette of built-in
reports. Collector and its users, on the other hand, go well beyond this level
with ease. The product's integrated Report Writer and Query Tool allow users to
perform both simple and advanced queries and data analysis easily, without
database or programming skills. The Collector system also has considerable
capabilities for performing regional and central-site analysis on aggregated
trauma registry data with many unique easy-to-use features.
Collector is a complete solution. No other software is
needed to run the system other than the operating system (network operating
system for network versions), making it very impervious to users and upgrades
to various office tools. Other systems can be "broken" by such common upgrades,
creating a large logistical and support problem (especially with hundreds of
users)

Collector Central Site Features
Throughout its long history, Collector has been designed
to be a "systems" solution. The first Collector implementations were actually
central-site versions of software to support the Major Trauma Outcome Study
(MTOS) and the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation's (PTSF) statewide trauma
database. The Central-Site version of Collector offers all the features and
capabilities of the hospital software, plus allows for the collection of, and
reporting on, all data elements within the state and/or region cumulatively or
by facility and/or any patient subset. Highlights of Collector's Central-Site
capabilities include:
- Central-Site system supports the aggregation of data
from all reporting facilities
- Central-Site supports the ability to run all current
Central-Site reports on any facility or combination of facilities, and/or on
any subset of patients or facilities specified by central-site staff
- The Central-Site system can contain an efficient data
entry module for entering and correcting facility data at the central-site and
for supporting multiple hospital data entry (e.g., for handling any low volume
sites that submit on paper forms)
- All the features and capabilities of the user software
are included with the Central-Site package
- Data is easily transferred between hospital and
central-site versions using Collector's integrated Transfer feature
- Data can be sent by email, Internet, modem, or
diskette using secure encrypted files
- Collector's powerful report writer allows central-site
staff to support data requests, research requirements, systems evaluation,
comparative analysis, and much more
- Retransfers are handled at the Central-Site
